TERRE HAUTE, IN -- Sophomores Lasse Bjørn Jensen and Jessie Fotheringham represented NJIT among the nation's cream of the crop cross country runners Saturday morning at the prestigious John McNichols Invitational, hosted by Indiana State. 

On a slow, hot morning at LaVern Gibson Championship Cross Country Course -- the same course where the NCAA Cross Country National Championships are held -- Bjørn Jensen ran a personal-best (25:06.6) in the Men's 8K Championship race. The Denmark native finished right in the middle of the pack, coming in 113th place in a field of 263 of the top collegiate male cross country runners in the world. 

In the Women's 6K Championship race, Fotheringham posted a 22:33.3, also competing against the premiere collegiate female cross country runners in the sport.

Both men's and women's teams have next week off from competition before commencing a big three-week stretch in October. The Highlanders compete in the Paul Short Invitational on October 2, host the 22nd-Annual NJIT XC Invitational at Branch Brook Park on October 10, and run in Princeton's Joe Handelman '52 Fall Classic on October 16.
