Highlanders Earn 14 All-East Honors at ECAC/IC4A Indoor Championships

NJIT’s 14 All-East awards are the most at an ECAC/IC4A Indoor Championship in program history

NEW YORK, N.Y. / BOSTON - The NJIT track and field team earned 14 All-East honors at the ECAC/IC4A Indoor Championships over the weekend at the Boston University Track & Tennis Center, the most at an ECAC/IC4A Indoor Championship in program history. The Highlanders also competed at the Fastrack National Invite at Ocean Breeze Complex.
 
Athletes that finish in the top 8 of their event at the ECAC/IC4A Indoor Championships earn All-East honors.
 
Zaidah Lightener recorded the first indoor triple jump mark over 12m in program history, as she earned a silver medal with a personal-best 12.01m. She also earned a silver medal in the long jump (5.85m), while Maria Owens earned bronze with a personal-best 5.80m.
 
Jessie Fotheringham set the school record and earned a bronze medal in the 3,000m with a personal-best time of 9:36.92 from the slow heat.
 
Jason Alvarez broke his own program record and earned a bronze medal in the 60m hurdles with a personal-best time of 8.16.
 
William Mitchell set the program record in the 5,000m with a personal-best time of 14:36.42 to finish fifth.
 
Caleb Duvelson broke the school record in the shot put with a personal-best 15.91m to place fourth.
 
Hayley Lucido (6th / 1:16.43) and Lucia Julvez (7th / 1:16.67) earned All-East honors in the 500m. Lucido also set the school record in the 800m with an indoor-best 2:12.90.
 
Lasse Bjørn Jensen destroyed the 3,000m school record with a personal-best time of 8:14.37.
 
Maddie Stevens finished eighth in the 400m with a time of 56.86.
 
Matin Mahmoud posted a triple jump of 14.28m to finish eighth.
 
Dakota Jones ran a 60m hurdles time of 9.09 to place eighth.
 
Eatoniel Brown, Cassian Holland-Moritz, Moustafa Abdelaal, and Jayden Smith finished sixth in the 4x400m relay with a time of 3:15.36.
 
Daniel Wilson, Lossenie Fofana, Judah Garcia Phillips, and Mitchell placed seventh in the distance medley relay with a time of 10:12.51.
 
Next Up
NJIT will take their spikes to Widener Indoor Classic in Philadelphia on Feb. 14.
