Bjorn Jensen and Lightener Highlight Day One for NJIT at 2026 America East Conference Indoor Championships

​BOSTON — The NJIT men's and women's indoor track and field teams completed day one at the 2026 America East Indoor Championship with notable performances, highlighted by freshman Lasse Bjorn Jensen's second-place finish in the men's 5000 meters and Zaidah Lightener's third place in the women's long jump.

In the men's 5000 meters, Jensen finished second at 14:14.13 and in the women's long jump, Lightener took third place with a mark of 5.93m.

Kierstin Ashby placed eighth in the women's 400 meters with a time of 57.25. In the men's 200 meters, Cassian Holland-Moritz finished seventh, clocking in with a time of 21.78.

In the women's 500 meters, Hayley Lucido secured fifth place with a time of 1:16.17. In the men's 500 meters, NJIT athletes finished consecutively from eighth to 12th, with Moustafa Abdelaal leading at 1:05.11.

For the women's 1000 Meters, Jessie Fotheringham placed 12th with a time of 2:54.04.

Dakota Jones placed 11th in the women's 60 hurdles, finishing in 8.91.

In the men's weight Throw, Andrew Sabeh achieved a mark of 15.07m, placing 13th.
