NEW YORK, N.Y. - The NJIT track and field teams set five school records this weekend at the Dr. Sander Scorcher Invitational at the Armory Track & Field Center.

Jessie Fotheringham broke the school record by over six seconds in the mile with a time of 4:51.72.

Sarah Van Ornum set her own school record in the 3,000m by 19 seconds with a personal-best time of 9:49.70.
Â
Hayley Lucido broke the 800m school record with an indoor-best time of 2:14.52.
Â
Dakota Jones recorded the first sub-9-second 60m hurdles time in program history, posting a personal-best time of 8.98.

Lasse Bjørn Jensen set the program record in the mile with a college-best time of 4:14.81 to place third.

Maddie Stevens finished ninth in the women's seeded 400m with a time of 57.47, while
Jason Alvarez placed ninth in the men's seeded 400m (49.89). Alvarez also won the open 200m with a time of 22.25.

Lucia Julvez, Lucido,
Kierstin Ashby, and Stevens placed third in the women's 4x400m relay with a time of 3:52.01.

Lossenie Fofana,
Moustafa Abdelaal,
Elisha Bugasch, and
Jayden Smith ran a 4x400m relay time of 3:19.49 to finish second.

The Highlanders will have another split weekend at the Mets Indoor Championships on Jan. 30 at Ocean Breeze Complex and the Millrose Games on Feb. 1 at the Armory Track & Field Center.
