Track and Field Competes at Gotham Cup and Wagner Invitational This Weekend

NEW YORK, N.Y. - The NJIT track and field teams compete at two meets this weekend, including the Gotham Cup on Friday at 3:00 p.m. and the Wagner Invitational on Saturday at 9:15 a.m. Both meets will be at Ocean Breeze Complex.
 
Jessie Fotheringham, Lasse Bjørn Jensen, and Daniel Wilson will run the 1,000m at the Gotham Cup, while the rest of the team will compete at the Wagner Invitational.
 
Fotheringham ranks third in the America East in the 5,000m with a personal-best and school record time of 16:34.31 at the Sharon Colyear Danville Season Opener.
 
Moustafa Abdelaal broke the school record in the 600m with a personal-best time of 1:21.30.
 
Zaidah Lightener leads the conference in the long jump with a college-best 6.02m at the Youree Spence Garcia Invitational. Maria Owens ranks third in the America East in the long jump (5.61m).
 
Jason Alvarez broke the school record in the 60m hurdles with a personal-best time of 8.29 at the Youree Spence Garcia Invitational, ranking fourth in the America East.
 
Dakota Jones (9.07) and Oluwanifemi Olufowobi (9.12) rank eighth and ninth in the America East in the 60m hurdles.
 
Isabella Patruno ranks fourth in the conference in the high jump with a personal-best 1.63m at the Wagner Shootout.
 
Matin Mahmoud posted a personal-best triple jump of 14.57m at the Wagner Shootout, which ranks fourth in the America East. Ralu Anosike ranks sixth in the conference in the triple jump (14.26m). Raegan Bossard ranks second in the America East in the women's triple jump (11.85m).
 
Caleb Duvelson ranks fifth in the America East with a personal-best shot put of 15.26m at the Wagner Shootout.
 
Davin Duffy ran a personal-best 1,000m time of 2:35.67 at the Youree Spence Garcia Invitational, ranking fourth in the America East.
 
William Mitchell clocked a personal-best 5,000m of 14:42.87 at the Armory Collegiate Distance Carnival, ranking fifth in the conference. 
 
Next Up
The Highlanders will compete at the Dr. Sander Scorcher Invitational, hosted by Columbia, on Jan. 23-24 at the Armory Track & Field Center.
