POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. - The NJIT women's soccer team (1-1-0) travels to Marist (0-2-0) for a non-conference matchup on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. at Tenney Stadium and Leonidoff Field.
 
NJIT EARNS FIRST WIN OF THE SEASON
NJIT secured its first victory of the season with a 3-0 shutout of UMass on Aug. 21.
 
Maria Nogueira opened the scoring in the 40th minute with an olympico goal—scoring directly off a corner kick. Mikayla Balio extended the lead in the 56th minute with her first goal of the season, assisted by Briana Andreoli. Just two minutes later, Julia Bullock scored the first goal of her collegiate career, also assisted by Andreoli.
 
ANDREOLI IS ONE POINT AWAY FROM THE NJIT DIVISION I RECORD
Andreoli now has 32 points at NJIT, tying her with Fiona Wright and Bailey Chant for the most in the Division I era.
 
Andreoli was selected to the America East Preseason All-Conference Team for the second consecutive season. Andreoli ranked second on the team with nine points (3 goals, 3 assists) last season while playing all 17 games.
 
The senior also has 12 goals in her NJIT career, tying her for second all-time in the Division I era.
 
SCOUTING MARIST
The Red Foxes enter the contest with a 0-2-0 record, most recently falling to Colgate, 2-1, on Aug. 21. Junior Jillian Garcia scored the lone goal for Marist in the match.
 
Marist was picked 10th in the MAAC Women's Soccer Preseason Coaches' Poll after finishing the 2024 season with a 3-11-3 mark.
 
Marist leads the all-time series, 2-1-1. The last matchup ended in a 0-0 draw on Aug. 22, 2024 in Newark.
