PISCATAWAY, N.J. - The NJIT women's soccer team opens its 2025 regular season against Rutgers on Thursday at 7:00 p.m. at Yurack Field. The game will be streamed live on Big Ten Plus with Dom Savino and Glenn Crooks on the call.
 
NJIT NEWS & NOTES
Head coach Ally Nick enters her 10th season leading the Highlanders. Over her first nine seasons, Nick compiled an overall record (W-L-D) of 58-71-25, including a 23-37-9 mark in conference play (ASUN and America East).
 
In 2024, the Highlanders finished 4-10-3 overall and 1-5-2 in America East competition.
 
The Highlanders are led by Briana Andreoli, who was selected to the America East Preseason All-Conference Team for the second consecutive season. Andreoli ranked second on the team with nine points (3 goals, 3 assists) last season while playing all 17 games. She has 12 goals in her NJIT career, tying her for second all-time in the Division I era. The senior also ranks fourth all-time in points (30) during that same period.
 
Kennedy Westbrook was named to the America East All-Rookie Team in 2024, leading the Highlanders with 1,440 minutes played. She recorded three points (1 goal, 1 assist) last season.
 
Mojisola Ayodele is the only returning goalkeeper from last season. She appeared in eight games in 2024, making 22 saves and posting a 1.50 goals against average. NJIT has three freshman goalkeepers, including Enya Carthy, Penelope Krieger, and Kaele Smith.
 
SCOUTING RUTGERS
Thursday marks the second all-time meeting between NJIT and Rutgers. The Scarlet Knights won the first matchup, 1-0, in the 2024 season opener in Newark.
 
Rutgers finished 11-5-5 overall and 6-2-3 in Big Ten play last season, earning a berth in the NCAA Tournament, where they fell 2-1 to UConn in the first round.
 
The Scarlet Knights were picked eighth in the 2025 Big Ten Women's Soccer Preseason Poll. Forward Ashley Baran, goalkeeper Olivia Bodmer, and midfielder Nata Ramirez were named Big Ten Players to Watch.
