BRONX, NY–The NJIT women's tennis team turned in an impressive weekend, competing at the Fordham Invitational on the Hawthorn/Rooney Courts.

NJIT captured the Flight A Doubles by the Highlander tandem of Irene Cocero and Laura Wipfli while Paula Menendez Alvarez and Feyza Aydin won the Flight B Doubles.

In singles action, Menendez Alvarez won her Flight B while Asima Sazan won the backdraw final of Flight D.

"The Fordham Invitational was great competition for the team this past weekend," said head coach Patricia Piorkowski McDonald.  "All the hard work players are putting in on the practice courts is paying off.  Paula was undefeated this weekend in both singles and doubles.  The doubles team of Irene and Laura dominated the Flight A tournament.  It was great to see the efforts of the entire team paying off.  We are looking forward to the ITA Regional Championships next weekend!"
