ITA Scholar-Athlete List
ITA All-Academic Team
NEWARK, NJ–Seven members of the NJIT women's tennis team were named to the 2025-26 Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Division I Scholar-Athlete Team, the association announced this week.
In addition to the seven individuals receiving the honor, the team was also recognized as a Division I All-Academic team.
Representing NJIT on the Scholar-Athlete team are: Lusia Hepcal Barcan, Paula Menendez Alvarez, Irene Cocero, Petra Koszo, Laura Wipfli, Diana Fernandes and Feyza Aydin.
In order to earn the individual award, student-athletes must have a GPA of at least 3.5 for the academic year. The team honor goes to squads with a combined 3.2 GPA, which the Highlanders surpassed with an impressive 3.694 mark.
Within the sport of tennis, student-athletes continue to exceed expectations in the classroom and on the court. In 2026, 1,501 Division I Women's student-athletes were named ITA Scholar-Athletes, and 231 Women's tennis programs were awarded the All-Academic Team distinction.
