NEWARK, NJ – NJIT women's tennis opened its 2026 fall season with a competitive weekend of action at the Villanova and Delaware Invitational, competing in singles and doubles matches Friday and Saturday. Sunday's slate of matches was canceled due to weather.

"It is always a good test to start out the fall season playing in the Villanova/Delaware Invitational," said head coach Patricia Piorkowski McDonald. "We faced some strong competition on days one and two. We have a young team, and it was good to see everyone compete and grow throughout the weekend. Asima Sazan had a nice win against Cornell, and we also had some strong doubles performances."

In singles action on Friday, Sazan earned a hard-fought three-set victory over Cornell's Sage Loudon, 7-6, 6-7, 10-2.
