9/27/2026 12:00:00 PM

NEWARK, NJ–The NJIT women's tennis team competed at the Army West Point Invitational.

The three-day event was a hidden dual format, singles-8 game pro sets and doubles six game sets.  The invitational featured host Army, Bucknell, Sacred Heart, Quinnipiac, Fairfield, NJIT and Marist.

"The Army Invite is a great event for our team," said head coach Patricia Piorkowski McDonald. "There's a lot of quality match play against strong opponents in a fast-paced format that really challenges us and allows the team to compete at a high level. I was especially impressed with the performances of our newcomers. It was great to see them step up, compete with confidence, and make an impact throughout the weekend."

The trio of freshmen Ashika Pinninti went 3-0 in singles on the weekend, Vanya Virmani was 2-1 and Tetianna Zhytelna was 2-1 in singles.

Feyza Aydin was a double winner in singles and doubles against Fairfield.
