Women’s Soccer Welcomes Bryant to Lubetkin Field on Sunday

NEWARK, N.J. - The NJIT women's soccer team (5-4-6, 0-2-3 AE) will face Bryant (4-4-6, 1-2-3 AE) on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. at Lubetkin Field. The game will stream live on ESPN+ with Jason Guerette on the call.
 
Sunday's match will take place during Homecoming Weekend and serves as NJIT's annual Breast Cancer Awareness Game.
 
Last Time Out
The Highlanders are coming off a 3-1 loss at Vermont on Oct. 16. Kara Thompson scored her first career goal in the 47th minute, assisted by Lily Maccausland and Emily Jozak. Jozak ranks second in the America East with four assists this season.
 
Andreoli Breaks Another Program Record
With her goal against Penn, Andreoli broke the overall program record with 49 career points. She also holds the overall program record with 20 career goals. The senior is three points away from tying the Division I single season points record, set by Fiona Wright (22) in 2018. Andreoli is the only player in the NCAA to set four school records this season.
 
 
Andreoli earned the America East Offensive Player of the Week for the third time this season on Oct. 6 after recording four points (2 goals) against Binghamton and New Hampshire. She is the only player in the America East to win the award multiple times this season.
 
Andreoli leads the America East in goals (8) and points (19) this season, and also ranks third with three assists. The Hawthrone, New Jersey product was selected to the America East Preseason All-Conference Team for the second consecutive season. She ranked second on the team with nine points (3 goals, 3 assists) last season while playing all 17 games.
 
Highlanders on a Hot Streak
Kirra Hyder has recorded at least one point in four of the last five matches and ranks third on the team with six points (2 G, 2 A) this season.
 
Andreoli has scored in four of the last five games, including her record-setting performances against UAlbany and Penn.
 
NJIT Team Rankings in the America East
As a team, NJIT leads the America East in total assists (24), while ranking second in both total points (68) and goals (22).
 
Strong Goalkeeper Play
Freshman goalkeeper Enya Carthy ranks fourth in the America East in goals against average (1.20) and fifth in save percentage (.791). She did not allow a goal in four straight appearances from Aug. 27 to Sept. 7. Carthy earned the America East Rookie of the Week on Sept. 2 after allowing zero goals on 14 shots faced against Lehigh and Rider.
 
Senior goalkeeper Mojisola Ayodele recorded a career-high 12 saves against North Texas on Sept. 13 — her second straight game setting a personal best, after making seven saves against Lafayette on Sept. 11. She ranks third in the America East with a .800 save percentage.
 
Scouting Bryant
Bryant enters the contest with a 4-4-6 record after a scoreless draw against New Hampshire on Oct. 16.
 
Madison Luke leads the Bulldogs with seven points (3 G, 1 A) this season. Goalkeeper Selena Negron leads Bryant with a 0.29 goals against average and .935 save percentage.
 
The all-time series is tied 3-3, but Bryant won the last season's contest in Smithfield, 4-3. In that game, Kennedy Westbrook recorded the first three points of her career (1 goal, 1 assist), while Andreoli and Sofia Mignon also scored for NJIT.
 
Next Up
The Highlanders will wrap up their home slate on Saturday, Oct. 25, hosting Maine at 6 p.m. at Lubetkin Field at Mal Simon Stadium.
