Six Highlanders Set to Compete in Princeton at ITA Northeast Regional Championships

NEWARK, NJ – The NJIT Men's Tennis team is set to compete in the prestigious ITA Men's Northeast Regional Championships this week, hosted by Princeton University in Princeton, NJ. The Highlanders will be represented by six players in the singles draw and three doubles teams, beginning play Thursday, October 16.

Qualifying singles action kicks off Thursday with four Highlanders vying for a spot in the main draw. Nejc Skorjanc, seeded 13th in the qualifying bracket, will be joined by teammates Tom Sorin, Severin Risan, and Maxime Hankins. Matches begin at 10:00 a.m., with Risan scheduled to start at 11:30 a.m. All four need to win two rounds to advance into the main draw.

Main draw play begins Friday, October 17, where Wil Jenkins, the 15th seed, and Soma Fukuhara will lead NJIT in singles competition. In doubles, the Highlanders will be well represented as three teams take the court. The duo of Jenkins and Fukuhara earned the No. 6 seed in the main draw and will begin play at 9:00 a.m. Friday alongside teammates Hankins and Skorjanc, doubles pair, and Sorin and Risan, doubles pair. 

The ITA Northeast Regional Championships bring together top talent from across the region, with strong implications for national rankings and potential spots in the ITA Fall National Championships.
