Last Time Out
Rising junior Alejandra Zuniga led all scorers with 20 points as the Highlanders picked up its first win of the season, 80-60, at Saint Francis U in the 2024-25 season opener for both teams Monday evening at DeGol Arena.
NJIT (1-0) held a five-point advantage after the first 10 minutes, 18-13 and exploded for 31 second quarter points, heading into the locker room with a 19-point lead 49-30. The Highlanders continued its momentum into the third quarter, outscoring the Red Flash, 22-13, taking a 28-point lead, 71-43.
Zuniga finished the night shooting 6-for-11 from the field, 7-for-10 from the free throw line while dishing out three assists. Senior Trinity Williams filled up the box score Monday night, netting 13 points, a game-best eight rebounds, shot 5-for-8 from the field, tallied three assists, combined for three blocks and two steals.

–Two of the top three scorers return from a year ago – Alejandra Zuniga (14.7 ppg) and Trinity Williams (9.0 ppg).
–Rising junior Zuniga will enter her junior campaign with 798 career points, 133 assists, 76 three-point field goals and 68 steals. In 2022-23, she was selected as the America East Rookie of the Year, named to the America East Third Team and All-Rookie team.
–Forward Trinity Williams has played in 80 career games with 55 games starting, as she enters her senior season. She averaged 9.0 ppg, 6.0 rpg.
–Head Coach Mike Lane enters his seventh season at the helm of the Highlanders.
–The Highlanders add six newcomers – five freshmen and one graduate student.

Scouting Hofstra
Hofstra enters Friday's contest 0-1 after dropping the 2024 season opener against Sacred Heart (63-58). The Pioneers went 24-10 last season and won the NEC Championship for the second consecutive season.
The Pride won 11 games last season and advanced to the quarterfinal round of the CAA Women's Basketball Championship for the fifth consecutive season.
Danielle Santos Atkinson returns to the sidelines for her sixth season as head coach of Hofstra's women's basketball team.
The Pride returns five from last season's squad, headlined by Emma Von Essen and Zyheima Swint, while welcoming five transfers and four true freshmen to the roster for the 2024-25 season.
