Women's DMR Record Highlights Track and Field's Split Day 1 In Boston

BOSTON — The NJIT men's and women's track and field programs divided their groups and took part in the first of two multi-day meets in Boston, participating in the opening day of the UMass Lowell Riverhawk Invitational and the John Thomas Boston University Terrier Classic.

BOSTON U DAY 1 HIGHLIGHTS
  • The women's DMR quartet of Nadia Zhecheva, Grace Burke, Hayley Lucido and Sarah Van Ornum shattered the school record in the event, posting a 12:01.32 time that reset the previous mark (12:28.61 in 2022) by over 27 seconds.
  • Anthony Dvorsky officially grabbed the 3000/5000m school record double after breaking former Highlander great Brian McGlew's 5000 mark, improving it from 14:51.43 to Dvorsky's 14:47.02.
  • Freshman Damon Dukes, Jr. won the 60 meters with a time of 7.02, only .12 seconds off teammate Jacob Leigh's school mark of 6.90 from last season.

UMASS LOWELL DAY 1 HIGHLIGHTS
  • In her first 200 meter run of the season, Maddie Stevens tied her own school mark with a top five time of 24.37.
  • Nia Holloway led the pack in the 60 meter dash, recording a meet-best 7.83.

NJIT will have split squads at both meets for their final days tomorrow (January 27).
