NEWARK, N.J. — NJIT track and field freshman Jordan Lindinger-Asamoah has been named the America East Male Field Performer of the Week for the second week in a row, the conference announced Wednesday afternoon.
The first-year Austrian native took second place in the triple jump at the St. Thomas Aquinas Spartan Invite with a distance of 14.88m / 48' 10". He also placed in the top-10 (9th) in the long jump with a PR jump of 6.59m / 21' 7.5", which puts him at 9th in the conference leaderboard.
Lindinger-Asamoah is currently the only America East men's student-athlete to rank in the top-10 of the conference in both the Long Jump (9th) and Triple Jump (2nd, 15.12m at Seahawk Shootout in Dec. 8 collegiate debut). He is also now the first Highlander to earn America East track and field honors twice in a career - in his first two weeks of collegiate meets - and is the first member from either cross country or track and field to win two AE weekly awards since fellow freshman Sarah Van Ornum won twice this XC season.
This week's award brings NJIT's all-time Track and Field tally to six and its combined total across Cross Country & Track and Field to nine.
Lindinger-Asamoah and the Highlanders will return to action this weekend for the NYC Gotham Cup (January 19) and Villanova Invitational (January 20).
