BOSTON, MA - Three members of the NJIT baseball team were named to America East All-Conference teams, the league announced on Tuesday.
Aidan Kidd was named First Team All-Conference and to the All-Academic Team, while
Ryan Fischer was recognized as Second Team All-Conference and
Ty Sallie was named to the All-Rookie Team.
Kidd, a junior pitcher, leads the America East in strikeouts this season with 92, while boasting a 5-2 record and 4.48 ERA. He struck out at least eight hitters in seven of his 14 starts, including a season-high 10 on two occasions vs. UAlbany and at LIU. The Business major also sports a 3.76 GPA and was honored for his work in the classroom being named one of 10 student-athletes on the All-Academic Team.
Fischer, a senior pitcher, was honored by the America East for the third-straight season. The Whitehouse Station, NJ, native was named Second Team in 2021, First Team in 2022, before being honored as Second Team this season. Fischer finished the season with a 4-6 record and a 4.55 ERA. His best outing of the season was an eight-inning complete game shutout over Binghamton when he tied his season-high with nine strikeouts.
Sallie, a redshirt freshman outfielder, was named to the All-Rookie Team after playing in 48 games (47 starts) in his first season of game action. Sallie hit .255, stole a team-high 20 bases, and also drew 34 walks, a program record.
The three Highlanders and their teammates will open up action in the America East Conference Tournament on Wednesday when they take on host Binghamton at 5pm in a single-elimination game.
