Box Score Philadelphia, PA - The NJIT men's tennis team got back in the win column on Saturday, defeating host St. Joseph's 6-1 at the SJU Tennis Complex.
With the victory, the Highlanders improved to 14-5 on the season, while the Hawks saw their record drop to 8-6.
"Today the doubles point finally went our way against a quality St. Joseph's team that had a match point to take the lead on us," said Head Coach
Marco Matteucci. "I am very happy for that one."
The Highlanders earned the doubles point thanks to victories at #1 and #3 by the tandems of
Pablo Perez Ramos and
Josh Smith and
Wil Jenkins and
Samuel Townes, respectfully.Â
"We were able to bounce back in singles too after an interesting day at Temple yesterday," added Mattrucci. "The guys took the lead early and kept the fire going and focused on getting the win."
The Highlanders won five of six singles matches, earning victories at the top five flights.Â
NJIT returns to action on Friday with a pair of home matches. The Highlanders will host Delaware at 11am and Baruch at 5pm.
