Track and Field Closes Out Weekend At Two Meets

PHILADELPHIA & EWING, N.J. — Despite the inclement weather, the NJIT track and field teams had representation in two locations on Saturday - the TCNJ Lions Invitational in Central Jersey and the final day of the Penn Relays.

TCNJ HIGHLIGHTS
The Highlanders picked up one victory at the Lions Invite as Thomas Van Saders took first place in the 400 hurdles with a personal best time of 53.80.

Three others put up top-three performances at the meet: third place showings from Nadia Zhecheva in the 800 meters (2:22.49), Matthew Morena in the 1500 meters (4:05.15, PR) and Waheeb Khan in the Long Jump (6.38m / 20-11.25).

OTHER TCNJ TOP FIVES
4X400 RELAY AT PENN RELAYS
The quartet of Elisha Bugasch, Lossenie Fofana, Matthew Bacchi, and Jacob Leigh advanced to today's final of the College 4x400 Relay after Friday's prelims. The group ended the finals in seventh place with a time of 3:12.51 - a new school record that bested the 2018 ASUN Championships time of 3:15.97.

The Highlanders will start championship season next weekend at the America East Outdoor Championships, which will take place from May 6-7 in Albany, NY.
