Women's Soccer Adds Graeham Gotrell To Coaching Staff

7/8/2022 11:56:00 AM

NEWARK, N.J. — NJIT Women's Soccer head coach Ally Nick has announced the hiring of Graeham Gotrell as the Highlanders' newest assistant coach. Gotrell brings experience on the collegiate and youth levels to Highlander Nation, with an emphasis on developing high-level goalkeepers.

"We are very excited to have Graeham join our program as an assistant coach. Chris Duggan, who was in this role for the last seven years, impacted our program and this position tremendously and Graeham brought similar energy through the interview process. His passion to develop goalkeepers on and off the field fits into our coaching staff's holistic approach to develop the whole person. I look forward to Graeham working with and adding value to our team as we continue to build a championship side," Nick said of Gotrell's addition.

Gotrell spent the last three seasons on the campus of Montclair State, working with both the women's (2019-21) and men's (2021) programs. The MSU women went 30-11-4 over three seasons with Gotrell on staff, winning a New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) championship in 2020 (Spring 2021; COVID-19) behind NJAC Goalkeeper of the Year Phoebe Bledsoe (0.28 GAA, .900 save pct). MSU's men went 17-4-1 in 2021, winning the NJAC regular season title, claiming an at-large selection in the NCAA Tournament and advancing to the second round. The Hawks were led by CoSIDA Academic All-American and Second Team All-NJAC goalkeeper Shane Keenan, who led Division III in GAA (0.32).

On the club side, Gotrell has worked with a number of high-level programs across the state, including Cedar Stars Academy/NJ Crush (2021-present; Girls Director of Goalkeeping), Keepers Advantage Goalkeeper Club (2016-present;Technical Director), TSF Academy (2018-21; Goalkeeper Coach), and FC Copa (2016-18; Goalkeeper Coach).

Gotrell graduated from Rowan University in 2016 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education and played three seasons (2012-14) in net for the Profs.
