Men's Lacrosse Defeated By UMBC In Season Finale

BALTIMORE — The NJIT men's lacrosse team's 2022 campaign concluded with a 19-9 road loss to the UMBC Retrievers Friday evening at the Retriever Soccer Park.

Logan Hone led the way for the Highlanders (0-13, 0-6 AE) with three total points in the game (2 G, 1 A) and was one of eight NJIT players with at least one point. Despite missing three games on the season, Gavyn Willson completed his season with ten multi-point outings after posting a goal and an assist against UMBC (5-6, 3-3 AE).

Joining Hone and Willson on the offensive ledger were Arthur Miller (1 G, 1 A), Gage Adams (1 G, 1 A), Collin Fogerty (1 G), Owen Corry (1 G), Isaac Vanzomeren (1 G), and Will Labartino (1 G).

Billy Kroeger recorded his second-highest ground ball total on Friday, grabbed a team-high six while also winning a team-best six faceoffs and being one of four Highlanders with a caused turnover each (Lynch Raby, Matthew Bowerman, Myles Hickey).

Liam Brown and Yanni Kalas both saw time in the cage during the season finale, with Brown starting and playing 20:07, Kalas going for 39:53, and each keeper making four saves.

NJIT's eight total saves matches UMBC's tally.
The Highlanders scored on one more extra man opportunity than the Retrievers (2-6 vs 1-5).
