NEWARK, N.J. — The 2022 America East Swimming and Diving All-Academic Teams have been announced and a trio of Highlanders have been named to the Men's list.

Seniors Joshua Franco & Edward Madrigal and sophomore Ian Horstkamp-Vinekar were selected to the All-Academic team, which honors student-athletes with at least sophomore athletic eligibility, a 3.30 minimum grade-point average and status as a contributor on their team. The squad is voted on by a committee made up of America East student-athlete support and athletic communications administrators as well as faculty athletic representatives.

Franco, an Hillsborough native and Information Technology major with a 3.81 GPA, is a seven-time Dean's List honoree and was one of the two Highlanders named to the All-Academic team in 2021, along with Itay Bachar. Franco earned four medals (1 individual, 3 relay) at the 2022 America East Championships, matching his four relay medals from the 2021 meet.

Madrigal, a native of Belleville and a Law, Technology and Culture major with a 3.67 GPA, has been named to the NJIT Dean's List six times. Madrigal matched his 2021 America East Championships medal count (2 individual, 4 relay) at the 2022 Championships.

Horstkamp-Vinekar, a Cumberland, R.I. native and Chemical Engineering major, is a three-time Dean's List honoree and sports the highest GPA on the All-Academic team with a perfect 4.0. The 2021 America East Men's Most Outstanding Rookie of the Meet earned five medals (2 individual, 3 relay) at the 2022 America East Championships, including a gold in the 100 back with a meet record time of 48.52.

Four school records were reset between the three Highlanders in the team's final meet of the season, the CSCAA National Invitational Championship last weekend.
