Men's Swimming and Diving Ends Season At CSCAA National Invite

ELKHART, IND. — The NJIT men's swimming and diving program completed its 2021-22 campaign this weekend at the College Swimming & Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) National Invitational Championship, held this year at the Beacon Health Center from March 10-12.

Overall, the team finished 20th as a group but the highlights of the national meet were the number of NJIT school records the Highlanders were able to break:

Ian Horstkamp-Vinekar broke the 200 Fly record he set at last year's America East Championships, improving it from 1:47.50 to 1:46.99 in an eighth-place finish.
Horstkamp-Vinekar was also part of the record-setting 400 Free Relay team, joining Tanish Chhabra, Joshua Franco, and Matthew Bevan in besting the previous time from last year's America East Championships (3:04.60) with a new time of 3:02.72 (19th place).
Edward Madrigal also reset his own school mark in the 50 Fly during the event prelims, beating his mark from CSCAAs in 2020 (22.51) with a new time of 22.03.
Sam Deemer did the same with the 500 Free record, improving his own time from this year's AEs (4:33.24) with a mark of 4:33.12.
Edward Madrigal broke teammate Joshua Franco's 100 IM school record in the prelims, moving it from 51.86 (2020 CSCAAs) to 50.61.
