NEW YORK, N.Y. — The first day of the two-day Rutgers University Open produced a number of memorable moments for the NJIT men's and women's track and field teams Friday evening at The Armory.

Among them was:

• A second place finish and new school record for the men's 4x200 Relay quartet of Jacob Leigh, Thomas Van Saders, Hamza Qureshi, and Eugene Graves III (1:30.92)
• Another reset of the women's 1000 meters school mark, this time by freshman Nadia Zhecheva (3:01.60)
• Two other freshman records in the men's 5000 meters (Anthony Dvorsky - 15:17.67) and women's 60 hurdles (Jadyn Otto - 9.41)
• Other top ten finishes from Cassandra Raia (5000 meters - 8th; 18:35:59), Brian McGlew (5000 meters - 10th; 15:09.52)
