Track and Field Excels At Spartan Invitational

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — NJIT Men's and Women's Track and Field continued its excellent indoor season Friday evening with a number of strong performances at the St. Thomas Aquinas Spartan Invitational, held at the Ocean Breeze Track and Field Facility.

NJIT VICTORIES

Sydne Nance claimed her first win in the 200 Meters since 2019 after pacing the field with a time of 25.83.
David Munera picked up the first victory of his career and set a new PR in the 500 Meters with a time of 1:06.67.

TOP PERFORMANCES

Jacob Leigh was impressive across the board, registering four second place finishes in the 60 Meters (6.99), 200 Meters (22.20), 4x400 Relay (3:25.05 with Matt Bacchi, Eugene Graves III, and Thomas Van Saders), and High Jump (1.93 / 6-4.00; PR)
The 4x400 Relay team of Sydne Nance, McKinleigh Mattie, Nadia Zhecheva, and Stuti Vyas took second place with a time of 4:12.61)
Thomas Van Saders also was the runner-up in the 60 Meter Hurdles (8.69) and set a PR in a third place 400 Meters run (51.23).
Nadia Zhecheva ran a 1:20.52 in the 500 Meters to take second in the event and set a new PR.
Stuti Vyas also took second in the 800 Meters (2:24.09, PR), with Zhecheva coming in behind in third (2:24.51).
Cassandra Raia was runner-up in the 1000 Meters, logging a time of 3:12.88 in the event.
