LEXINGTON, KY - The NJIT women's volleyball team has been honored by the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) with one of its annual AVCA Team Academic Awards for the 2020-21 academic year.

The Highlanders were one of 243 Division I women's volleyball programs to achieve the Team Academic distinction as the NJIT women's volleyball program was honored for the eighth-straight season. Additionally, the Highlanders earned Team Academic Honor Roll status as one of the top 20% of Division I team GPAs.
To be eligible for the AVCA Team Academic Award - which was created in 1992-93 - a program had to maintain a 3.30 cumulative grade point average on a 4.0 scale. NJIT finished the 2020-21 academic year with a remarkable 3.70 Team GPA as every member of the squad finished with at least a 3.30 GPA, including seven student-athletes with at least a 3.80.
In total, the AVCA honored a record 1,275 teams among all collegiate and high school levels for men and women, breaking last year's all-time record of 1,126.
