NEWARK, NJ – The NJIT women's volleyball team takes Binghamton to five sets, but their efforts fall just short in the final set of the match.

The Highlanders opened the match with an exciting set win that included seven ties and two lead changes. The Highlanders' offensive approach had Binghamton off balanced and out of rhythm. However, after the first set the Bearcats were able to respond with their strong attack and secured sets two and three.
Despite dropping sets two and three, the Highlanders stormed back in the fourth set, hitting an impressive .387 to force a decisive fifth set. Binghamton's attack proved too much down the stretch as the Bearcats sealed the win 15-9 in the final frame.
Leading the way for the Highlanders was Sophomore
Martina Gonzalo Cortes led the team with 15 kills and 16 points and freshman
Emma Wild recorded a double-double with 12 kills and a team-high 17 digs. Sophomore
Ema Torres finished second on the team with 13 kills and tied Wild for second most points with 14.
