McGlew, Camby Earn America East Cross Country All-Academic Honors

NEWARK, N.J. --- NJIT men's cross country seniors Brian McGlew and Gavin Camby have earned America East Spring 2021 Cross Country All-Academic honors, the conference announced Wednesday afternoon.

McGlew, an East Windsor native majoring in Civil Engineering with a 3.97 GPA, and Camby, a Fairfax Station, Va. native and Electrical Engineering major with a 3.87 GPA, were joined on the Men's All-Academic team by Kyle Cloutier, Justin Carbone, Ben Drezek and Drew Everett of UMass Lowell, UAlbany's Dean Athanailos, Binghamton's Dan Schaffer, Stony Brook's Greg Mangarelli and Vermont's Andrew Crompton. The ten student-athletes combined for cumulative grade point average of 3.92.

McGlew was NJIT's top finisher in the program's first-ever run in the America East Cross Country Championships on March 5 (27:23.21, 59th) while Camby was the Highlanders' third-fastest runner (28:12.77, 69th).

To be eligible for All-Academic, student-athletes must have sophomore athletic eligibility, attain a 3.30 minimum grade-point average and be a contributor on their team. The squad is voted on by a committee comprised of America East student-athlete support and athletic communications administrators as well as faculty athletic representatives.
