NEWARK, N.J. --- The NJIT women's tennis team returned to Newark and their winning ways with a 4-0 home shutout of UConn Saturday afternoon at the Naimoli Family Athletic and Recreational Facility.

A day after a loss to Rutgers and after starting the week with a defeat by UPenn, the Highlanders (3-2) bounced back to earn their third shutout of the season.

NJIT swept all three doubles flights to earn the match's first point and saw Mouna Bouzgarrou (No. 4), Amira Badawi (No. 3), and Shamika Dhar (No. 6, retirement) secure the win-by-clinch victory for the Highlanders.

"Our schedule is tough and very challenging this season so bouncing back and winning today 4-0 after our last two tough losses vs UPenn and Rutgers is certainly a positive to build upon," head coach Zaki Abdelrahman acknowledged after the match. "I am happy that we could manage our nerves and focus not to drop a single set and get the job done. We are not playing our best tennis yet, but we will take the positives and build on them."
