JERSEY CITY, NJ--NJIT baseball won its second straight game of the season with a 6-2 mid-week non-conference baseball victory at Saint Peter's Wednesday afternoon at Jaroschak Field.
NJIT moves to 11-15-1 on the season while the Peacocks fall to 2-24 overall.
The Highlanders struck first with a pair of runs in the first and single run in the second, taking a 3-0 lead. NJIT added a run in the fourth, a solo shot by
Jared Donnelly and a single run in the sixth, extending the Highlander lead, 5-0.
After singles runs by Saint Peter's in the seventh and eighth, NJIT capped off the game with a run in the top of the ninth for a 6-2 victory.

Jake Rappaport moved to an even 2-2 on the season, pitching 5.0 innings, allowing just five hits and striking out three Peacocks. NJIT's fourth pitcher
Joe Georgini, pitched a perfect ninth with one strikeout.

David Marcano led the Highlanders, going 3-for-5 with one RBI and one run, including a double. LF

Michael Anastasia each registered a pair of hits in the win as the Highlanders as a team combined for 13 hits.
The visitors scored a pair of runs in the top of the first on three hits and one Peacock error. With runners on first and second, 2B
Brett Helmkamp hit into a fielder's choice but a Peacock error by the shortstop sent home the first Highlander run. Sophomore 1B
Nick Hussey hit a two-out RBI double to left center, driving in Helmkamp for a 3-0 lead.
Freshman 3B
Jared Donnelly led off the top of the fourth with his first collegiate home run of his career and NJIT tacked on a single run in the top of the sixth on the second error by the Peacocks for a 5-0 lead.
Saint Peter's got on the board in the seventh and eighth with single runs.

Matthew Cocciadiferro capped off the Highlander scoring in the top of the ninth with an RBI single to right field, scoring
Julio Marcano, who led off the inning with a double to left center.
NJIT will return to ASUN Conference action this weekend when the Highlanders visit North Florida in a three-game series. First pitch on Friday is scheduled for 6pm, Saturday at 2pm and Sunday at 1pm.
