NEWARK, N.J. — NJIT (22-12, 8-8 ASUN) hosts Hampton (17-16, 9-7 Big South) in the CollegeInsider.com Postseason Tournament (CIT) Quarterfinals on Thursday, March 28.

NJIT is in the midst of its third appearance in the tournament. The Highlanders reached the semifinals in both prior appearances in 2015 and 2016.
NJIT boasts a 7-2 record in the CIT and is a perfect 7-0 at home.
The Highlanders won their CIT First Round matchup against Quinnipiac, 92-81.
Zach Cooks tied NJIT's single-game scoring record with a career-high 34 points.
Shyquan Gibbs added a team-high seven assists and 15 points while
Diandre Wilson also tallied 15 points in the win.
The win was NJIT's 22
nd of the season, which set a program record for wins in the Division-I era.

All-Time Series: NJIT Leads, 1-0
The CIT Quarterfinals will mark the second all-time meeting between NJIT and Hampton.
On Feb. 2, 2015, the Highlanders defeated the Pirates in Newark, 86-67.
The Highlanders are 11-4 at home this season. Hampton will be the first Big South opponent for NJIT this season.
In non-conference play this season, NJIT currently has its best record since moving up to Division I in 2006 at 13-3.
The Highlanders have a current NCAA Net Ranking of 172 (as of March 27) and have appeared in "Others Receiving Votes" in the Associated Press Top-25 three weeks this season (Dec. 10-24) -- the first times in program history that NJIT has been recognized in the poll.
Hampton Pirates
Hampton (17-16) enters the CIT Quarterfinals battle tested, having defeated St. Francis Brooklyn (81-72) in the first round and Charleston Southern (73-67) in the second round on Tuesday.
The Pirates have won seven of their previous eight games with their only loss during the stretch at the hands of Campbell, the top seed in the Big South Tournament.
Junior Jermaine Marrow leads the team averaging 24.9 points per game, which ranks sixth in the nation.
As a team, Hampton's offense is a powerhouse on a national scale, ranking 21
st in scoring offense (81.6), sixth in free throw percentage (78.1%) and 19
th in fewest turnovers (348).
