WALL TOWNSHIP, NJ – The Monmouth Hawks hosted the NJIT Highlanders at the Jersey Shore Arena Friday night with the home team prevailing in an exciting down to the wire finish.

The Hawks opened the scoring to take the lead, but the Highlanders answered in less than a minute as Matt Sendecki scored to tie it up.

The Hawks scored again late in the period and that was it until late in the game as Michael Caufield redirected a puck into the net to tie it up with less than 3 minutes left in the game. Unfortunately, there was a costly turnover in the Highlanders end with less than 5 seconds to play and the Hawks managed to slide the puck into the net for the game winner.

Matthew Altomare was outstanding in net as he faced quite a few shots from point blank range.
