Scouting the Highlanders
Senior midfielder Arianna Gerber scored the game-winning goal with 1:03 left in regulation as NJIT won in dramatic fashion, 1-0, over visiting Temple Friday evening

Freshman Fiona Wright leads the team with four goals and eight points while Katrina Nguyen-DeMary paces the Highlanders with three assists.  Nguyen-DeMary ranks fifth in the ASUN Conference with three assists.

Sapirman has played every minute in goal for the Highlanders, allowing five goals and boasting a .853 save percentage.  The graduate student ranks second in GAA in the ASUN Conference, giving up 0.61 per game.

Assistant Coach Mary Hearin is a former player and assistant coach at UMBC.  As a player, Hearin earned America East Conference all-conference second team and all-rookie in 2003 and making the America East championship all-tournament team in 2005.

She was a graduate assistant coach at UMBC in 2007-08 and a full-time assistant coach with the Retrievers in 2008, filling that post until 2009.

Scouting the Retrievers
UMBC, still in search for its first win in its 2018 campaign, is coming off a 2-0 loss at UPenn.

The Retrievers were shutout in the first three matches of the season against Robert Morris (1-0), La Salle (5-0) and Saint Francis U (4-0).  UMBC has dropped the last three consecutive matches by a 2-1 decision.

In the last outing against Towson, freshman Danielle Fuentes scored her first career goal in a crosstown battle.

UMBC has only scored three goals thus far, coming from three different players – Christina Corbi, Fuentes and Erin Stevenson.

Keeper Leah Roth has started five matches while Jade Wilkins has appeared in two matches, including one start.  Roth has combined for 21 saves.

Last season, the Retrievers finished with a 6-10-2 overall mark and 2-6-1 in the America East.

All-Time Series vs. UMBC
Sunday will mark the first all-time match against the two teams.
