PISCATAWAY, NJ –
Blake Brancato won his second steeplechase of the year on day one of the METS Outdoor Championships on Friday.
The Highlanders competed in eight out of 10 events held on Friday, with the Highlander men sitting in third and the women in sixth.
Brancato finished the steeplechase in 9:38.77, 41 seconds faster than the second place finisher from Fordham.
In the men's pole vault the Highlanders finished back-to-back-to-back with
Brandon Kong coming in fifth,
Calvin Gould in sixth and
Brian Nagotko seventh.
On the women's side,
Miku Okada placed third in the pole vault with a 2.56m mark and
Alyssa Mitchko came in fifth in the javelin throw with a distance of 38.15m.
The Highlanders will continue competing at the championships held at Rutgers all day on Saturday.
