NEWARK, NJ—NJIT, in a stretch of five straight on the road, will visit Howard on Friday with tipoff slated for 3pm at Burr Gymnasium in Washington, DC.

NJIT opened the season on Tuesday at Saint Peter's, dropping a 70-57 decision, despite a career-night for junior Danielle Tunstall, who combined for a double-double, pouring in 24 points and grabbing 14 rebounds.

First-year head coach Mike Lane comes to NJIT after spending six seasons at Bucknell University as the top assistant coach, where he helped guide the Bison to a program-best 27-6 mark, Patriot League title and conference championship while earning a berth to the NCAA Tournament in 2017.

All-Time Series
Howard leads the all-time series, 3-2.  In the last meeting between the two teams in 2016-17, NJIT topped the Bison, 70-55.

Scouting the Bison
Howard (0-1) picked up its first victory of the season, defeating the La Salle Explorers (0-1), 57-54, in Tom Gola Arena in Philadelphia.

Junior guard Sarah Edmond led the Bison tonight, putting up 22 points in her 32 minutes of play.

Howard was selected to finish fourth in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Preseason Poll. Edmond was selected to the All-MEAC second team and junior Ayonna Williams was selected to the All-MEAC third team.

Edmond, recorded 388 points, 104 assists, and 89 rebounds last season while Williams notched 291 points, 144 rebounds and 109 assists.

Tiesha "Ty" Grace enters her fourth season as head coach of the Bison.  Grace had her most successful season at the helm during the 2016-17 campaign. She led the Bison to a 16-13 overall record and an impressive 12-4 mark in the MEAC. Under Grace's direction, Howard earned the No. 2 seed in the 2017 MEAC Tournament, the highest during her tenure.
