BRONX, N.Y. -- The Highlanders men's cross country team placed sixth in the 2018 ASUN Championship held Friday at Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx, N.Y.
University of North Florida won the nine-team event with a score of 25 points while Liberty University senior All-American Azaria Kirwa finished in first place with a time of 25:03.7. The other top-five placing teams at the event were Liberty University (50), Lipscomb University (75), Stetson University (149) and Florida Gulf Coast University (151).
NJIT, which finished with 181 points, was led by junior
Gerard Gill with a time of 26:33.9. Other top Highlander runners were junior
Ryan Budhu (26:36.0), freshman
Rob Spies (27:32.6), senior
Mike Russell (27:36.7) and freshman
David Essel (28:06.2).
The Highlanders will next compete as the host at the Halloween Classic on Nov. 4. The event is scheduled for noon at Branch Brook Park in Newark.
