NEWARK, NJ – Senior
Mamadou Guirassy was named NJIT Athlete of the Week for his performance through September 5.
Guirassy, a forward from Paris, France, scored five goals in a 2-0-1 week for the Highlanders.
Guirassy scored all of NJIT's goals in their three games last week, a 1-0 win over Navy, a 2-2 tie against Florida International and a 2-0 win over Florida Atlantic.
As of September 4 Guirassy ranks tied for first among the NCAA in total goals (5), and leads the ASUN Conference in points (10), goals and shots (15). Teammate
Victor Pujades ranks third in the NCAA in shutouts (3).
Guirassy also ranks tied for first in the NJIT DI record books for career goals, with 15 along with former teammate Joshua Mercer ('15).
Both Guirassy and Pujades swept the ASUN men's soccer weekly honors, with Guirassy earning Player of the Week and sophomore Pujades grabbing Defensive Player of the Week Honors.
