Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Men’s Soccer Ends Season with 1-1 Draw at Home

​NEWARK, NJ–The NJIT men's soccer team ended the 2025 season with a 1-1 home draw against UMBC on Senior Night Tuesday evening in America East Conference action at Lubetkin Field at Mal Simon Stadium.

How It Happened

  • UMBC broke a scoreless match in the 63rd minute on a goal by Rocky Schissler from Ryan Calheira on a cross across the box to give the Retrievers a 1-0 lead.

  • NJIT scored the equalizer in the 81st minute on the second goal of the season by Junee Lee on a header off a serve in the box by Giovanni Massacesi for a 1-1 score.
     

  • The Highlanders held an 18-to-13 overall shots advantage with UMBC edging the shots on goal category (7-for-5).

  • In the corner kicks, NJIT combined for a 13-to-8 advantage.

  • Lee led the Highlanders with four total shots.  Six different Highlanders 

  • Senior goalkeeper Devin Armstrong who leads the America East Conference in overall saves (71) stopped six Retriever shots.

Senior Night Recognition 
In pregame ceremonies, NJIT honored nine graduating graduate students and seniors.

  • A goalkeeper from Palm Harbor, Florida named to the Dean's List twice, tops the America East in total saves and ranks tied for 13th in the nation in total saves will graduate in May with a Law, Technology and Culture degree. .. # 1 Devin Armstrong

  • A defender from Rome, Italy named to the Dean's List four times will graduate in May with a Cyberpsychology degree… #5, Andrea Campoli

  • A midfielder from Hillsborough, NJ,  who is pursuing an MBA in Business Administration…#7, Jordan Canica

  • A midfielder from Castellon, Spain named to the Dean's List three times, will graduate in May with an Industrial Engineering degree…#10, Alvaro Heredia

  • A midfielder from Sedavi, Spain, named to the Dean's List 6x, will graduate in May with an Industrial Engineering major… … #11 Sergio Martinez Cubel 

  • A defender from Santo Andre, Brazil, who is pursuing his masters in Management will graduate in May … #15, Caio Carrara
