LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ—Rider used seven pitchers and held, visiting NJIT to just one run, as the Broncs picked up its 10
th win of the season, with an 8-1 midweek victory over the Highlanders, Wednesday afternoon at Sonny Pittaro Field.
The Broncs (10-15) won its second straight game, taking an early 2-0 lead through four innings and broke open the game, 6-0, with four runs in the fifth and added a pair of runs in the eighth to secure the 8-1 win.
Rider pounded out 10 hits, led by 1B Jake Bender, who finished 2-for-4 with three RBI and two runs, including a three-run homer, his first of the season, in the fifth inning. SS Richie Tecco was 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run while C Lee Lipinski finished 2-for-2 with two RBI's in the victory.
The Highlanders (3-22) were held to just five hits as Rider's second pitcher, Anthony Arneth (1-0) collected his first win of the season, pitching three innings and giving up two hits.
NJIT used four pitchers Wednesday with LHP
Aquib Ramkishun (0-3), starting and taking the loss, pitching three innings, letting up five hits, two runs (both earned) and walking two Bronc batters.

James Sofield, the Highlanders third pitcher, who is making a comeback from back surgery last season, pitched a scoreless seventh inning, striking out one Bronc.

NJIT's LF
Evan Pietronico drove in the Highlanders lone run of the game in the eighth, on a groundout to second base, scoring Etts, who reached first on a hit-by-pitch, stole second and advanced to third on a wild pitch.
The Highlanders, which have played its first 25 games on the road, will open up the home portion of its schedule this weekend, hosting ASUN Conference opponent Jacksonville at Riverfront Stadium in Newark, NJ.
The three-game series will begin on Friday at 6pm followed by a 1pm first pitch on Saturday and 12Noon start on Sunday.
