The NJIT men's lacrosse team and opponent VMI will both be looking to earn their first win of 2017 on Saturday at 12pm at Drill Field #2 in Lexington, VA.
ALL TIME SERIES
VMI holds a 1-0 series lead over the Highlanders, having defeated them 10-7 on February 27, 2016 at Drew University.
NJIT had three players with two goals or more, including
Aaron Forster, who has yet to net a goal this season.
Patrick Benton tallied his first career goal against VMI.
The Keydets led 8-3 at halftime, and the Highlanders tried to comeback outscoring them 4-2, but not enough for the comeback.
VMI was led by Wesley Sanders who notched four of the Keydets 10 goals.
A LOOK AT THE KEYDETS
VMI returns first team All-Southern Conference attackman Sanders, who has one goal already on the season. Sanders ranks third on the active national goal-scoring streak list having scored in 15 consecutive games which started in the Highlanders and Keydets first meeting.
All-conference freshman team defender Kyle Walsh is also back, and has already collected a team-high four ground balls for VMI.
Nick Dodd, who missed all of last season and part of 2015 due to a knee injury, is back and has a goal for the Keydets, while Brad Nardella leads VMI in scoring with two.
Starting goalie Joe Riccadonna made 13 saves in VMI's 20-5 loss to Army.
A LOOK AT THE HIGHLANDERS
Ryan Kaden has made quick impact for the Highlanders in 2017. The freshman has a team-leading three goals and shares a team-leading four points with
Matt Brown. Sophomore Brown scored two goals against Lehigh and added two assists against Princeton.
Ryan Darrow was NJIT's top performer against Princeton, tallying two goals and one assist.
Defender
John Tachon has a team-high 11 ground balls and two caused turnovers, and has gone 10-31 at the faceoff circle.
Tachon recorded his first career goal against Princeton, which gives the Highlanders two goals this year from long-stick defenders. The other goals came from
Kevin Falteisek against Lehigh.
In goal for the Highlanders is junior
Nick Marzullo who grabbed 23 saves so far and holds a .411 save percentage.

The Highlanders compete in their fourth away game in February heading to Hofstra for a 7pm game on February 28.
