NEWARK, NJ – The NJIT women's tennis team dropped a 7-0 decision to visiting St. John's Friday night at The Naimoli Family Athletic and Recreational Facility.

The Red Storm (2-0) swept the Highlanders, wrapping up the teams second match of the day after facing Fairfield earlier in Flushing Meadows, NY.

Highlander duo Rafaella Sampaio and Natacha Minc tallied a win against Stephanie Elgergren and Jaide Collins in doubles play 6-3 at second doubles.

In third singles, Alba Rosas Garcia fell to Zafia Stanisz in a close three set tilt. Garcia lost 6-0 in the first set before, battling back 7-6 (3) in the second.  St. John's Stanisz held on for a 10-5 victory in the third frame.

NJIT will return to action on February 2 when the Highlanders visit Rutgers at 1pm.
