ALL-TIME SERIES
NJIT looks for its first all-time win against Jacksonville. In the first meeting between the two teams last season, Jacksonville topped NJIT, 65-35 in Newark on January 26. The Dolphins won convincingly on their home court in Jacksonville, 68-37 on February 20.
A LOOK AT JACKSONVILLE
Jacksonville enters Monday's contest on a four-game win streak, most recently a 65-47 victory over USC Upstate for the Dolphins first ASUN road victory of the season.
Jacksonville ranks No. 55 in the latest RPI rankings (as of January 11) and is receiving votes in the CollegeInsider.com Mid-Major top 25 poll (as of January 10).
The Dolphins win-streak began on December 30 vs. UC Davis and Wofford, as part of the Best Western UNF New Year's Classic and followed up with two ASUN wins over North Florida and USC Upstate.
Jacksonville had three players score in double-figures at USC Upstate with junior guard
Brandi Buie leading the way with 23 points.Â
Sherranda Reddick finished the evening with 20 points,
Cristian Mercer added 13 and
Kimberly Dawkins tied her career-high with 16 rebounds.
Reddick, the Dolphins senior guard, leads the ASUN in scoring at 17.8 ppg and is just six points away from becoming the Dolphins all-time leading scorer (currently has 1,483 career points).Â
She has scored in double-digits in 16 out of 17 games for the Dolphins, including a career-best 33 points and eight three-pointers, which are the most points in a single game at Jacksonville and ties the mark for most three-pointers made vs. Nicholls State on November 25.
As a team, Jacksonville +10.8 rebounding margin tops the ASUN Conference and ranks 10
th in nation. The Dolphins allow 58.4 points per game (the second fewest in the ASUN).
Last season, Jacksonville recorded the programs first-ever ASUN Conference tournament championship and NCAA appearance, including a 20-win campaign and ASUN Newcomer of the Year honors.
The Dolphins defeated two-time defending ASUN champion FGCU, 56-54. The win snapped the Eagles' seven-year, 71-game home win streak against ASUN opponents. In the first round of the NCAA's, Jacksonville faced No. 3/2 South Carolina.
Defending ASUN Conference women's basketball champions Jacksonville was selected to repeat in 2016-17 by the league's head coaches. FGCU was picked first in the media poll and second in the coaches' poll.
After taking home its first ASUN Championship last season, Jacksonville collected five first-place votes to lead the coaches poll ahead of FGCU. The Eagles, winners of last year's regular season title, were selected to place second, while taking the top spot ahead of the Dolphins in the media poll.
