WEST POINT, NY – NJIT men's tennis has won their fourth straight match with a 4-0 victory over Stony Brook on Saturday, at host site Army.
The score is a result of the tournament format, which calls for incomplete individual matches to be halted as soon as one team achieves the points necessary to clinch a victory.
The point for doubles is won as soon as one team wins two of the slots and the entire match is over as soon as one team wins four points overall.
The Highlanders earned the doubles point, with
Markus Schultz and
Arnaud Holl winning 7-6(4) in the first slot and
Richard Rangga and
Andres Alban posting a 6-2 victory in the third slot.
Schultz, Alban and Rangga would add three more wins in singles play.
Schultz went 6-4, 6-2 against Stony Brook's Samuel Taieb in first singles.
In third singles, Alban was victorious over Tyler Hoffman 7-5, 6-2 and in sixth singles Rangga defeated Kenzo Kauffmann 6-1, 6-2.
NJIT will look to extend their streak on Sunday against Drexel at 2pm.
