NEWARK, NJ— The NJIT men's tennis team continued its strong run Tuesday afternoon, defeating visiting Lamar, 5–2, to extend its winning streak to four matches.
NJIT (8–2) secured the victory with a dominant showing in singles after the teams split the doubles matches.
The Highlanders opened the match by claiming the doubles point, taking two of the three contests.
At No. 1 doubles, Maxwell Lindstedt and Leon Nickel fell to Soma Fukuhara and Wil Jenkins, 6–3. NJIT clinched the point at No. 2 doubles as Yerassyl Bakhtiyar and Nejc Skorjanc defeated Vicente Monge and Rintaro Shukuda, 6–2. The No. 3 doubles match featuring Fabian Anthin and Axel Bergh against Severin Risan and Riccardo Campagnola went unfinished at 5–3.
NJIT secured the match with four singles victories.
At No. 2 singles, Soma Fukuhara leveled the match with a 6–1, 6–3 win over Rintaro Shukuda. Riccardo Campagnola followed with a 6–4, 6–4 victory against Maxwell Lindstedt at No. 3.
Freshman Yerassyl Bakhtiyar added another point with a 6–4, 6–0 win over Fabian Anthin at No. 4, while Maxime Hankins extended the Highlanders' lead with a 6–2, 6–1 victory over Vincent Monge at No. 5.
Lamar earned its points at No. 1 and No. 6 singles.

NJIT travels to South Carolina for a pair of Spring Break matches, visiting Presbyterian on March 16 and Queens (NC) on March 18.
