NEWARK, N.J. – The NJIT men's tennis team takes down Baruch, 7-0, on Saturday Afternoon to extend their winning streak to seven matches.
The Highlanders opened the match by taking control in doubles play, earning victories on all three courts to secure the early 1–0 advantage. The pair of Riccardo Campagnola and Severin Risan set the tone with a 6–1 win at No. 1 doubles, while Nejc Skorjanc and Sadhista Linga followed with another 6–1 victory at No. 2. Juan Diego Argenal and Yerassyl Bakhtiyar completed the sweep at No. 3 doubles with a 6–4 decision.
The Highlanders carried that momentum into singles competition, claiming all six matches to seal the shutout victory. Yerassyl Bakhtiyar earned a 6–3, 6–1 win at the top spot, while Maxime Hankins added a straight-sets victory at No. 2 singles (6–2, 6–3). Tom Sorin battled back after dropping the opening set to secure a three-set win at No. 3 (4–6, 6–3, 6–2).
Additional straight-set victories from Severin Risan (6–2, 6–0), Juan Diego Argenal (6–2, 6–1), and Sadhista Linga (6–0, 6–1) completed the sweep for NJIT.
The victory marks the Highlanders' seventh consecutive win, continuing an impressive stretch that began after an earlier loss to Drexel. During the streak, the Highlanders have earned wins over Bucknell, Monmouth, Bryant, Binghamton, Quinnipiac, and now Baruch.
