WEST LONG BRANCH, NJ – Men's and women's track and field teams competed at the Monmouth Invitational that took place on March 25-26 at Monmouth University.
The Highlander men placed sixth at the invite, while the women finished eighth. Host Monmouth finished first on both the men's and women's sides.
In the 400-meter hurdles,
Alex Ortega and
Dhruv Banerjee finished back-to-back. Sophomore Ortega was third in 54.85, while freshman Banerjee came in fourth with a time of 55.87.
The 4x800 team of
Mike Russell,
Carlos Skerrett,
Nicholas Ramirez and
Jay Bober placed third, running the distance relay in 8:35.58.
Junior
Emmanuel Agyen came in fifth in the 200-meter dash, finishing in 22.99.
On the women's side
Kelli Hesse,
Michelle Ling,
Emily Shibata and
Katy Nyby finished the 4x800 relay in 11:15.01, good for second place.
Sophomore
Kim Deluca placed fourth in the pole vault with a height of 2.74m.
Next up for outdoor track is the Sam Howell Invite hosted by Princeton on April 1-2.
