Box ScoreNEWARK, NJ—The NJIT women's tennis early winning streak was halted at three Sunday, as visiting Fordham topped the Highlanders, 5-2, at The Naimoli Family Athletic and Recreational Facility.
The Highlanders (3-2) won at second doubles and picked up wins at fourth and sixth singles. Visiting Fordham improved to 2-1 on the season.
NJIT's freshman duo
Rafaella Sampaio and
Amanda Helminsky teamed for a 6-4 victory at the second spot, topping Estelle Won and Gianna Insogna.
Highlander
Alba Rosas Garcia won by identical scores at fourth singles, defeating Lexi Zobeideh while
Natalija Tasovac went the distance at the sixth spot against Insogna. Fordham's Insogna won the first set, 6-4, but NJIT's Tasovac came back to win 6-4 in the second set and 12-10 in the super tiebreaker.
NJIT will return to action on Saturday at 2pm when the Highlanders visit Cornell.
