ATHENS, GA - The NJIT men's swimming and diving team placed fourth at the 2015 Coastal Collegiate Swimming Association (CCSA) held at the Gabrielson Natatorium located on the campus of the University of Georgia. The Highlanders broke 16 school records during the duration of the Championships.
Defending champ UMBC captured the 2015 CCSA crown tallying 996 points followed by Incarnate Word with 778. Gardner-Webb took third with 690 points, followed by NJIT with 292 points. Rounding out the fifth and sixth spots were VMI and Howard with 224 and 160 points, respectively.
NJIT junior captain Brian Capozzola just missed the podium, placing fourth in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 45.39. In the 200-yard backstroke, freshman Scott Quirie and junior Christian Giglio finished ninth and tenth with times of 1:52.23 and 1:55.89, respectively. In the 200-yard butterfly finals, freshman Collin Moore clocked in with a time of 1:51.53 placing ninth, while sophomore Adam Bransky finished with a time of 2:11.16. Freshman Maxim Tillman finished the 1650-yard freestyle in 16:51.08 to place ninth and senior Gene Tutzauer crossed the finish line with a time of 17:20.06.
