Box ScoreOMAHA, NE—The NJIT men's tennis team concluded its season with a 5-2 victory over Grand Canyon at the 2014 National Invitational Tennis Tournament hosted by University of Nebraska Omaha at Hanscom Brandeis Tennis Center Sunday.
NJIT finishes the season with a 14-7 overall mark and 2-1 record at the National Invitational Tennis Tournament, recording wins over host Omaha (6-1) and Grand Canyon (5-2).
The Highlanders, winners in six of their last seven matches, swept the doubles point from Grand Canyon and won four of six singles contests, cruising to a 5-2 match victory.
NJIT doubles pair of
Andres Alban and
Erik Artursson were 8-6 winners at first doubles, defeating Grand Canyon's Ahmad Saleem and Jacob Spizman. Alban, slotted at the third spot for NJIT, won a three-set singles tilt against Adrian Legarreta, 7-5, 4-6, 7-6 (3).
Highlander duo
Markus Schultz and
Holger Norregaard cruised to an 8-2 victory at second doubles topping Felix Schueller and Alexander Roggenkamp. Schutlz won easily in straight sets at first singles, 6-3, 6-2 defeating Nicolas Moulin while Norregaard won his last collegiate match as a Highlander, 6-1, 7-5 at the second spot topping Ahmad Saleem.
Arnaud Holl and
Carl Jedlinski competing at third doubles won by a tight 8-7 (4) score defeating Adrian Legarreta and Meidy Chazeau. Holl won by identical scores at the sixth spot, 6-4, 6-4 over Alexander Roggenkamp.
