Men’s Tennis Wins Third Straight; Edges Stony Brook, 4-2

NJIT's Markus Schultz was a double-winner Sunday at Stony Brook
STONY BROOK, NY—The NJIT men's tennis team won its third straight match edging Stony Brook, 4-2, Sunday.
 
NJIT, now 11-5 on the season, won two out of three doubles contests and three singles contests earning the 4-2 victory over the Seawolves.
 
Sophomore duo Carl Jedlinski and Arnaud Holl got things started for the Highlanders at third doubles topping Raphael Termat and Brandon Stone.  Jedlinski dropped a straight set decision at sixth singles and Holl's match at the fifth spot against Marcelo Locatelli was unfinished, 3-6, 6-4.
 
Highlander duo Holger Norregaard and Markus Schultz were 9-7 winners at second doubles topping Tyler Hoffman and Locatelli.  Schultz won by identical scores, 6-2, 6-2, at first singles while Norregaard's match was retired due to injury at second singles with Stony Brook's Termat leading 6-1, 3-1.
 
Andres Alban won a three-set tilt at third singles over Jose Morles, 4-6, 6-2, 6-0 while Erik Artursson won in straight sets at the fourth spot defeating Hoffman, 6-4, 6-3.
 
The Highlanders will return to action on April 17 at Army and close out the 2014 season at the National Invitational Tennis Tournament hosted by University of Nebraska Omaha on April 26-27.
